Hardwar Enhanced began life in March 2004 as an ongoing project led by Max to fix the numerous bugs and make substantial improvements to SR's final beta upgrade U3.beta5. The last release based on U3.beta5 was in August 2004 and can be found here.

With the release of UIM as the new gold standard for Hardwar the focus for Hardwar Enhanced has moved to producing patches that enhance the current UIM release.

Both myself and Max are currently working on UIM Enhanced.

Installation.

1) Current releases are based on Ian Martin's UIM 06. Download UIM06 from here and install over an existing hardwar installation.

2) UIM enhanced needs a replacement HardwarW.exe file which includes a loader for the external patch-files. Download the UIM06 base file (released 5/2/05) and extract HardwarW.exe to your Hardwar directory (this is C:\Program Files\Interplay\Hardwar on my PC).

3) The code for new features is contained in separate patch files. Max's code is contained in files called 'enhanced' Smurph's in files called 'enhanced2'. You can choose to run your choice of one patch file or run two togethor. See this page for for Max's patch file downloads. See this page for Smurph's patch file downloads. Extract the zipped files to your hardwar directory.

4) Later releases include the option to disable some features if unwanted via the registry. The new registry settings can be easily altered using Olly's HardwarEOpt. Download and extract both files to your desktop. Click on the executable to launch.

5) Current release of enhanced2 supports commands to activate hangars in modified worlds. Download an optional world-pack  to test.

One of the features of enhanced is the ability to order thugs to trade to player owned hangars. Guidance on using this feature can be found here, and technical notes here.
